Mona Lisa is one of the most popular paintings of the Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. Also known as Gioconda, he was portrayed by Da Vinci between the years 1503 and 1506. It is a painting in oil on poplar wood and is exposed at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

It could be an idealized image of woman, painted by the artist. Another hypothesis is that it would be a self-portrait of Leonardo da Vinci in drag.

 

However, the most accepted hypothesis at the time, claims that Mona Lisa was Lisa del Giocondo, wife of the wealthy Italian merchant Francesco del Giocondo.
